St. Joseph's Day Tabloid Sports

This Tuesday we went to Mass to celebrate the feast of Saint Joseph.
On Wednesday it was tabloid sports day, the whole school split up into houses and went to different activities that the house captains had set up for us.
It was really nice to be able to play with children from all different year levels and we had a lot of fun together.
We also had a yummy sausage sizzle at lunch too.

Sheridan Swimming Display

On Thursday we showed our families how amazing we are at swimming. Thanks to all whanau who came along to watch our swimming lesson. We have been so impressed with the progress of all children throughout the term. We have learnt a lot and had lots of fun as well.

Our maths learning

In Room 3 & 4 we have been enjoying our maths time because we have some very interesting independent play activities to do, when we're not working with the teacher. There are lots to choose from and we can use our imagination with each activity. The activities are there to help us practise number knowledge and to introduce new upcoming maths concepts. Here are some photos of us at work:

Shrove Tuesday-Pancake Day

On Tuesday we began to prepare for the season of Lent by participating in some exciting Shrove Tuesday activities.

First we had a liturgy on the turf to burn the ashes for Ash Wednesday Mass and then we went back to class to talk all about praying, fasting and giving!
We learnt all about the real reason for Pancake Day and discussed why it was important to fast during Lent.

Here are some pictures of our yummy pancakes and our stories:

Shine Week

This week we have been collecting donations for the Let It Shine foundation that supports people who are victims of domestic violence. Today we all wore orange to school to show our support.

Ash Wednesday

On Wednesday it was the beginning of Lent. The whole school attended mass at 9am for Ash Wednesday. We all received an ash cross on our forehead to remind us to live more like Jesus.

Good Shepherd School Parish Mass

On Saturday it was our inaugural parish school Mass, Father Bernard called everyone up to the Alter and gave us all a blessing.

It was so lovely to see everyone in their beautiful dresses and cultural clothes.

Even Harry the hippo was there!
