Final Product!

Yesterday we finally finished our bird feeders. They look fantastic! We took them home to test out.

Each bird feeder was designed to suit the needs of specific birds. We had to research the size of the bird, what they liked to eat and how they would use the bird feeder.

We are now going to evaluate our feeders and decide what we would need to change next time.

Bird Feeders

For technology this term we had to find a need around the school. We noticed that the birds couldn't find much food to eat during the winter.

Everyone got stuck in and started to design their own bird feeder. We made them specifically for the type of bird we had studied. We had to think of size and what the type of food out birds like to eat. e.g seeds, fruit or sugar water.

We were so lucky to have lots of parents come in and help us bird our feeder. We even had 2 dads come in who were builders!

We can wait to decorate our bird feeders and hang them up so the birds wont be hungry anymore.

Book Week in Room 3 and 4!

We loved book week. Our favourite part was when the book characters came alive at the parade. We also enjoyed listening to Stu Duval and Melinda Szymanik who are both authors.

In class we made book marks, posters and did also sorts of fun activities! We wish book week could be every week.

Scooter Course!

Last week Constable Jude came in and taught us how to stay safe when we are riding our scooters. We learnt to stop and walk our scooters across crossings and to check driveways for cars. We had so much fun!

Te Reo Maori

We have loved learning to count to ten in Maori.

  • 1 - tahi
  • 2 - rua
  • 3 - toru
  • 4 - whā
  • 5 - rima
  • 6 - ono
  • 7 - whitu
  • 8 - waru
  • 9 - iwa
  • 10 - tekau

  • We made up a dance to help us remember the numbers. We also did an art activity. We found all the letters in the magazines to help us learn to spell the words.

We love learning a new language!
