Grandparents Day

On Friday we celebrated Grandparents Day!
We went to Mass and then had a lovely shared lunch followed by performances from our Sheridan Irish dancers, folk dancing and Kapa Haka as well as the choir and ukulele group.
We wrote some messages to our grandparents about why we love them and made a mural!

Mary Mackillop Day

Last Wednesday was the feast day of Saint Mary Mackillop.
The whole school attended Mass and afterwards we went into our buddy classes to do some exciting art work. Room 3 and Room 8 made some wonderful collages of Mary Mackillop and Room 4 and room 6 made a big mural. In Room 6 we made a large St Mary MacKillop doll and we placed paper dolls of ourselves around her. It was such a fun day working alongside each other, we all had so much fun! Happy Saint Mary MacKillop Feast Day.

Tamsin Flynn Poetry

This week Tamsin Flynn came in to visit us with some of her poetry performances.
It was a great way to celebrate poetry during Book Week and we heard some awesome poems about pirates, the zoo, worms, the beach and witches!

The Holy Spirit

In the first half of this term we have been studying the Holy Spirit in Religious Education. Last week we did an activity, where we were experiencing the joy of the holy spirit. We talked about what 'joy' looks like, feels like and sounds like. Check out our photos below.

Samoan Language Week

Talofa lava, last week was Samoan Language Week. We did a lot of prayers in Samoan, listened to some stories from Samoa and learnt some Samoan words. Mackenzie's mum, aunty and nana came to visit us and shared some coconut bread with us and answered some questions about Samoa. Mackenzie and her aunty did a Samoan dance for us. On the Wednesday, children could come to school dressed in Samoan traditional dress.

Easter Liturgy

On Wednesday the 4th of April, the Sheridan classes gathered in the Prayer Grotto for an Easter Liturgy. Some of the Room 3&4 students read the Passion Story from Good Friday and the story of Jesus' Resurrection on Easter Sunday. Our friends from Room 1 carried up different items to symbolise Easter, there was a white cloth, a crucifix and eggs to symbolise new life. We all had a chance to Pray and celebrate the most important time of the Liturgical year.
